Product Description Adding this B&M SuperCooler keeps the ATF and transmission cooler, and keeping a vehicle's transmission cool is essential for dependability, especially in performance applications. The unit is designed to be very efficient for its size and weight, to cool much better than an ordinary 'fin and tube' cooler, and to reduce the risk of lube system failure. Using fluxless, oven brazed construction for vibration resistance, it is built out of lightweight aluminum alloy and features a revolutionary 'stacked plate' design with multiple oil flow paths. The unit monitors resistance to flow by allowing a controlled amount of ATF to pass through a self-regulating orifice. Controlled by viscosity, thicker ATF is returned directly to lube through two bypass openings in the stacked plate core, while thinner ATF is directed through the core to cool as operating temperatures increase.

wrong hardware March 12, 2010 Bruce A. Tangney (Neenah, WI) I have a 05 Silverado and the fittings that came with the unit did not work. Had to get compression fittings, cut the return line, and splice them in. This would be an easy install job with the correct fittings, without the correct fittings its a real hassle.
Great built May 29, 2009 Willy Lin (Utah USA) easy to install with the steel brackets, good quality oil hose, and just about the right length, over 4 feet of it. I believe this under $50 cooler will save me thousand dollar in the future.

Most people oversize these things. This one is built to be out front of the radiator, where there is little protection. It doesn't have the flimsy fins, it's alot more sturdy. Buy some those pre-drilled brackets and mount it at least a few inches in front of the radiator, that lets some cool air mix with the hot air from the cooler before it hits the radiator. I never liked these zip tie mounts since all the hot air from the cooler will heat up the radiator, losing some of your effectiveness and allowing dirt to build up between them that is difficult to remove. It's easier to mount it in series with the radiator cooler. If you do this, have the hot fluid go to the supercooler first, then into the radiator. Otherwise, buy some extra hose, cleaner, and some plastic nipples so you can seperate the tranny cooler from the radiator. This is the most efficient way of doing the job, but you need to know which hose is the pressure hose and which is the return. A good product, buy it.
Easy to install, effective August 26, 2008 Brick (Your Face) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This cooler does what's expected of one, I guess... not much to say about it.
It comes with 2 sizes of brass NPT fittings to interface with your existing factory cooler, if equipped. Supposedly there is an orifice bypass which serves to prevent overcooling, I guess that's cool except if you live in Arizona where overcooling doesn't really happen and instead you'd rather have all the flow you can get.
In case anyone wants a reference of functionality, I have a 2001 S10 4x4 with 4.3L engine & 4L60E transmission. On 110 degree days at 75mph my transmission used to run 240F, now with this cooler it runs about 205-210F under those conditions.
